The Tri-County Model Railroad Club (TCMRRC) was started in 1967 and incorporated on December 7, 1970. The club was originally located in Kenosha Wisconsin until December 2007. In April 2008 the club moved to its new facility located in the town of Union Grove, Wisconsin. The new location is an ideal place for the club to operate, our HO Model Trains and our guests to be able to view.
Initially the club was set up to run on DC current with block control operation. When we moved to our present location, it was converted to the new NCE DCC operating system eliminating the need for block control.
The club adopted an upper Midwest theme for scenery and operation. The layout provides an industrial type of scenery, allowing us to have an assortment of sidings and businesses to facilitate prototypical movement.
Our club members model everything from late era steam to present day diesel motive power. Tri-County Model Railroad Club utilizes the periods from 1954 until present for motive power and rolling stock. This approach allows our members, to be more diverse with their interest in the hobby.
Our club meets every Tuesday with targeted sessions of work on the layout, monthly business meetings, and monthly operating sessions. Additionally, we are an open club, which facilitates our members being able to operate their trains, 7 days a week 365 days a year.
We schedule open houses 4 to 6 times per year. We try and coordinate open house dates with activities occurring in the village of Union Grove. We will post dates of our open houses in this website as well as our Facebook site.
The club has hosted layout tours for the 75th NMRA convention and also for the Niagara division of the NMRA during the 2011 Trainfest. Trainfest is the largest model railroad show in the country. It is held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin during the month of November, every year. We recently held an open house to accommodate the Lake County Photography Club and they spent about 3 hours photographing our layout while our members were operating various types of trains. If there are any organizations or clubs that would like to tour our facility please feel free to contact one of our officers to schedule a tour.
Come and join our group and enjoy the hobby. Any experience level is welcome. We are always looking for new members.
We have something for everyone if you like to model or watch steam, electric, or diesel locomotives in action. Of course you can like them all!!!!
